On June 16 LOQdown & the entire Ndlovu family came together to execute another MoDiski Tournament. This one, however, was a lot different to other installments of the MoDiski franchise.
This tournament was the launch of the Hastings Ndlovu Memorial Tournament. This project has been a Passion Point for LOQ for over 3 years & through the Ndlovu Family, LOQdown & The City of JHB this dream has materialized and is now a reality.
Hastings Ndlovu is one of the many stalwarts of The 76 Uprisings. It has been said, in numerous circles, that Hastings Ndlovu was the 1st student killed on that fateful day & a Tournament & Sports Facility in his name is very fitting and is a testimony to his contribution on June 16 – That being on of the martyrs of June 16.
LOQdown donated a Flex Court to Mbuyisa Makhubu Primary School and celebrated this occasion with a MoDiski tournament that had 16 teams of Under 16 players competing for the prize of inaugural Hastings Ndlovu Memorial Tournament.
We were blessed to have dignitaries such as Dr Irvin Khoza, JHB Mayor Parks Tau, The Gauteng Premiere David Makhura, our MEC for Sports Arts & Culture Ms. Molebatsi Bopape & a host of other personalities including Pirates Legend, Lucky Lekgwathi
The message of the day? June 16 is not a day of sorrow but a celebration of the sacrifices made by the youth of 1976. Not just of Hastings, but of ALL the victims and all the brave souls that took the stance that ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH.
LOQdown is proud to have started this new movement
